LSU is unanimous No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll
Texas A&M falls to second, UCLA stays in third, UL is fourth,
TCU up to fifth
After
going 3-0 this past week, LSU has returned to the top
spot in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll.
CBI uses five national rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball,
D1baseball.com, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and USA Today Coaches Poll.
The top team has changed for the seventh consecutive week, going
from Virginia to TCU, LSU, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and back to
LSU.
The Tigers topped Lamar before taking two at Georgia in a rain-shortened SEC series.
LSU is first in all five polls.
Texas A&M had a 2-2 week and dropped one place to second. The
Aggies beat Abilene Christian before losing two of three at home to Arkansas
in an SEC series. Texas A&M was second in three polls, third in one poll and
fourth in the other.
UCLA went 3-1 and held steady at No. 3. The Bruins defeated Cal
State Fullerton before winning two of three from California in Pac-12 play. UCLA was second in
two polls and
third in the other three.
Louisville was 3-1 and remained in fourth. The
Cardinals lost at Ohio State before sweeping a three-game ACC set at Wake
Forest.
Louisville was third in one poll and fourth in the other four.
TCU enjoyed a 4-0 week and rose two spots to fifth. The Horned
Frogs won at UT Arlington before sweeping a three-game series from Santa
Clara. TCU was fifth in two polls, sixth in one poll and seventh in the other
two.
Missouri State (No. 17) and Maryland (No. 19) entered to the
poll this week, while UCF and Coastal Carolina dropped out. No. 8 USC and No.
10 Illinois rose three places, while Vanderbilt dropped six places to No. 11.
The CBI Composite Poll contains five teams from the SEC,
including three of the top six. There
are three from the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12, two from the Big 12 and Missouri
Valley, and one
from the Big West and Conference USA.
