Virginia Remains No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll
Oregon State holds second, ULL stays third, FSU up to
fourth, Florida fifth
After
an 0-1 week, Virginia
stayed No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll.
CBI used five rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game and USA Today
Coaches Poll.
The Cavaliers lost 8-1 to Old Dominion on Tuesday at Norfolk's Harbor Park.
Virginia was idle over the weekend for final exams. The Cavaliers were first in
three polls and second in the other two.
Oregon State went 3-0 and stayed in second, but cut into
Virginia's lead. The Beavers
swept a three-game Pac-12 series at California. OSU was first in two polls,
second in two polls and third in the other.
Louisiana-Lafayette had a 4-1 week and remained at No.
3. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated Southeastern Louisiana twice before taking two of three
from at Arkansas State in Sun Belt action. ULL was second in
one poll and third in the other four.
Florida State went 3-0 and rose one spot to fourth. The
Seminoles swept a three-game home non-conference series from Minnesota. FSU was fourth in
two polls, fifth in two polls and sixth in the other.
Florida also had a 3-0 week and climbed two places to fifth.
The Gators swept an SEC series at No. 16 Alabama. Florida was fourth in three
polls, eighth in one poll and No. 11 in the other.
No. 7 Louisville and No.9 Oklahoma State were the top gainers,
both rising four spots. South Carolina fell the furthest, dropping from No. 8 to No. 15.
TCU entered the poll at No. 16 and Mississippi State returned
at No. 20. Texas and Alabama dropped out of the poll.
The CBI Composite Poll contains six teams from the
SEC. There are three from the ACC and Pac-12, two from the
American and Big 12, and single entries
from the Big Ten, Big West, Conference USA and Sun Belt.
