FSU fifth
After
a 3-1 week, including an ACC series win over No. 16 Clemson, Virginia has
risen
back to No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll.
CBI used five rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game and USA Today
Coaches Poll.
The Cavaliers began the week with a 9-3 win at James Madison. Virginia nipped
Clemson 3-2 on Friday, fell 7-1 on Saturday before claiming the series with a
1-0 victory on Sunday. The Cavaliers were first in four polls and second in
the other.
Louisiana-Lafayette had a 4-1 week and climbed one spot to No.
2. The Ragin' Cajuns rebounded from a loss to New Orleans to win at
McNeese State and sweep a three-game Sun Belt set against UALR. ULL was first in one poll
and second in the other four.
Cal Poly went 4-0 and moved up one place to third. The
Mustangs defeated Saint Mary's before sweeping a three-game Big West series at
Hawaii. Cal Poly was third in four polls and fourth in the other.
Oregon State was 2-1 and rose two spots to No. 4. The Beavers
won two of three at Washington State in Pac-12 play. OSU was third in one
poll, fourth in one poll and fifth in the other three.
Florida State went 1-3 and dropped to No. 5. The Seminoles lost
at home to No. 20 Florida before dropping two of three ACC contests at Georgia
Tech. FSU was fourth in two polls, fifth in two polls and seventh in the
other.
Miami (Fla.) (No. 16), Rice (No. 18) and UC Santa Barbara (No.
19) returned to the poll, while Kentucky, Clemson and Cal State Fullerton dropped from the poll.
The CBI Composite Poll contains seven teams from the

Why a composite poll? CBI felt that
five national polls was enough. Plus, each week you find discrepancies that make
it tough to gauge where a team really is. This week's example: Houston is
No. 12 in one poll, No. 28 in another.
