Poll
UVa falls to second, ULL up to third, South Carolina fourth,
Cal Poly fifth
After
a 4-0 week, including an ACC sweep of Notre Dame, Florida State has ascended
back to No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll.
CBI used five rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game and USA Today
Coaches Poll.
The Seminoles began the week with an 8-3 win over FGCU on Tuesday. FSU edged
the Fighting Irish 8-7 on Friday before weather postponed Saturday's contest.
The Seminoles swept a doubleheader on Sunday, winning 11-2 and 4-3. FSU was
first in three polls and second in the others.
Virginia went 4-1 and dropped to second. The Cavaliers defeated
Old Dominion and George Washington at home before taking two of three at
Pittsburgh in ACC action. UVa was first in one poll, second in three polls and
third in the other.
Louisiana-Lafayette had a 4-0 week and rose one spot to No. 3. The Ragin' Cajuns
downed Tulane before sweeping a three-game Sun Belt set at Troy. ULL was first in one poll
and third in the other four.
South Carolina went 2-2 and fell one spot to fourth. The
Gamecocks beat Appalachian State prior to dropping two of three at SEC-rival
Arkansas. South Carolina was fourth in three polls and fifth in the other two.
Cal Poly had a 3-1 week and moved up one place to fifth. The
Mustangs topped CSU Bakersfield before winning two of three from No. 20 UC
Santa Barbara in Big West play. Cal Poly was fourth in two polls and sixth in
the other three.
Kentucky (No. 14) and Ole Miss (No. 17) returned to the poll,
while Rice and UC Santa Barbara dropped from the poll.
The CBI Composite Poll contains eight teams from the
SEC. There are three from the ACC and Pac-12, two from the
American and Big West, and single entries
from the Big 12 and Sun Belt.

Why a composite poll? CBI felt that
five national polls was enough. Plus, each week you find discrepancies that make
it tough to gauge where a team really is. This week's example: Oregon is No.
12 in three polls, No. 25 in another.
