Virginia Climbs to No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll
FSU drops to second, South Carolina
stays third, ULL still fourth, Vandy fifth

a 5-0 week, including four ACC victories, Virginia has risen to No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll.
CBI used five rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game and USA Today
Coaches Poll.
The Cavaliers, under head coach Brian O'Connor (pictured) started the week
with a 5-3 victory on Monday at Miami to capture the series. Virginia defeated
Longwood 8-1 on Wednesday before sweeping a three-game set from Virginia Tech.
The Cavs won 2-1 on Friday, 9-2 on Saturday and 7-4 on Sunday. UVa was first
in two polls, second in one and third in the other two. The Cavaliers are the
fourth different team to be ranked No. 1 this season.
Florida State had a 3-1 week and fell one spot to second.
The Seminoles rebounded from a midweek loss to Florida to sweep a three-game
ACC series at Boston College. FSU is first in two polls, second in one, third
in one and fourth in the other.
South Carolina put together a 5-0 week and remained third. The
Gamecocks beat College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina before sweeping a
three-game SEC series from No. 20 Tennessee. South Carolina was first in one
poll, second in two
and third in the other two.
Louisiana-Lafayette went 4-1 to maintain fourth. The Ragin' Cajuns
defeated Northwestern State and Southern before taking two of three from
Western Kentucky in Sun Belt action. ULL was second in one poll, fourth in
three and fifth in the other.
Vanderbilt had a 3-1 week to hold onto fifth. The Commodores
beat Belmont before taking two of three from No. 19 Kentucky. Vanderbilt was fourth in one poll, fifth in
two, sixth in one and seventh in the other.
Clemson (No. 15) and Florida (No. 16) returned to the poll,
while Washington debuted at No. 17 and Alabama entered at No. 19. Ole Miss,
Kentucky, UCLA and Tennessee all dropped from the poll.
The CBI Composite Poll contains six teams from the
SEC. There are three from the ACC, Big West and Pac-12, two from the
American, and single entries
from the Big 12, Conference USA and Sun Belt.
