Florida State Remains No. 1 in CBI Composite
Poll
Virginia rises to second, South Carolina drops to third, ULL
up to fourth
Despite
a 2-2 week on the road, Florida
State stayed at No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll.
CBI used five rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game and USA Today
Coaches Poll.
The Seminoles started the week by dropping a 3-1 decision at Florida on
Tuesday. FSU took two of three at Clemson, losing 9-3 on Friday before
sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday by the scores of 11-1 and 4-3. The Seminoles were first in three polls,
second in one poll and third in the other.
Virginia had a 3-1 week and climbed one spot to second.
The Cavaliers defeated Towson and Princeton at home before splitting a pair of
ACC contests at Miami. Virginia is first in one polls, second in two polls,
third in one poll and fourth in the other.
South Carolina went 1-2 and fell one place to third. The
Gamecocks dropped two of three at Kentucky. South Carolina was second in two
polls, third on one poll and fourth in the other two.
Louisiana-Lafayette put together a 5-0 week to extend its win
streak to 12 games and rise two spots to fourth. The Ragin' Cajuns took two
from Nicholls before sweeping a three-game Sun Belt set from Georgia State.
ULL first in one poll and third, fourth, fifth and sixth in the other polls.
Vanderbilt had a 2-2 week on the road and moved down one place
to fifth. The Commodores won at Belmont before dropping two of three at
Mississippi State. Vanderbilt was fourth in one poll, fifth in one poll, sixth
in two polls and seventh in the other.
Houston entered the poll at No. 16 and UC Santa Barbara debuted
at No. 17, while Kentucky returned at No. 19. Three ACC squads (NC State,
Clemson, North Carolina) dropped out of the poll.
The CBI Composite Poll contains seven teams from the
SEC. There are three from the Big West and Pac-12, two from the ACC and
American, and single entries
from the Big 12, Conference USA and Sun Belt.
