Florida State Remains No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll
Virginia is second, South Carolina third, Fullerton fourth, Vandy
fifth

taking two of three at home from No. 15 Miami, Florida State stays at No. 1 in
a tight CollegeBaseballInsider.com Preseason Composite
Poll.
CBI uses five national rankings in its
composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game and USA Today
Coaches Poll.
The Seminoles, under head coach Mike Martin (above), dropped a 3-1 decision to
the Hurricanes on Friday. FSU bounced back to win 10-2 on Saturday and 13-6 on
Sunday to capture the series. The Seminoles were second in all five polls.
Virginia had a 3-1 week to hold down second. The Cavaliers
rebounded from a home loss to VMI to sweep a three-game set from Monmouth.
Virginia was first in three polls, third in one and fifth in the other. The
Cavs are one point behind FSU.
South Carolina went 3-0 to remain in third. The
Gamecocks took three from in-state rival Clemson over the weekend. South
Carolina was first in two polls, third in two polls and fourth in the other.
The Gamecocks are one point behind Virginia and two behind FSU.
Cal State Fullerton was 3-0 and rose four spots to fourth. The
Titans swept a three-game set at sixth-ranked Oregon. Fullerton is third in
two polls, fourth in two polls and fifth in the other.
Vanderbilt went 3-2 at home to hang onto fifth. The Commodores
lost to Western Kentucky and to Evansville before sweeping a three-game series
from Stanford. Vandy is
fourth is one poll, fifth in one poll, sixth in two polls and eighth in the other.
New teams in the poll are No. 15 Texas and No. 19 Ole Miss. Those who dropped out include
Miami and TCU.
The CBI Composite Poll contains five teams from both the ACC
and the SEC. There are three from the Pac-12, two from the Big 12 and Big
West and single entries
from the American, Conference USA and Sun Belt.
