North Carolina remains No. 1 in CBI Composite
Poll
LSU stays at No. 2, Cal State Fullerton up to third,
Vanderbilt falls to fourth
After
another 5-0 week, North Carolina is again the unanimous No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com
Composite Poll. The Tar Heels have held the top spot for 10 consecutive weeks.
UNC defeated Coastal Carolina on Tuesday and Elon on Wednesday
before sweeping a three-game ACC series from Duke to extend its win streak to
14. The Tar Heels are first in
all five polls.
LSU went 3-1 and retained second. The Tigers topped Grambling
State on Wednesday before taking two of three at Alabama in SEC play. LSU is
second in all five polls.
Cal State Fullerton was also 3-1 and moved up one spot to
third. The Titans won at Pepperdine on Tuesday before taking two of three at
Cal Poly in Big West action. Cal State Fullerton is third in three polls and
fourth in the other two.
Vanderbilt had a 2-2 week and dropped one place to fourth. The
Commodores lost to Tennessee Tech on Tuesday before going 2-1 at Georgia in
SEC action. Vanderbilt is third in two polls and fourth in the other three.
Virginia had an impressive 4-0 week to rise two spots to fifth.
The Cavaliers topped Old Dominion on Wednesday before sweeping a three-game
ACC set from sixth-ranked Florida State. Virginia is fifth in all five polls.
Following its three-game sweep at No. 14 Georgia Tech, NC State
shot up from No. 16 to eighth. Arkansas fell five spots to No. 15.
Indiana (No. 19) and Rice (No. 20) return to the poll. Clemson and Kentucky
dropped out.
The CBI Composite Poll contains six teams from the SEC and
five from the ACC. There
are four from the Pac-12 and single entries
from the Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Big West and Conference USA.
