North Carolina still on top of CBI Composite
Poll
Top Five stay same: No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Vandy, No. 4 Fullerton,
No. 5 Virginia
After
a 5-1 week, North Carolina remains No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite
Poll. But the Tar Heels are no longer the unanimous choice.
UNC split a doubleheader with Clemson on Monday and won at UNC
Wilmington on Wednesday. The Tar Heels swept a three-game ACC set with
Maryland at home. UNC is first in four polls and second in the other.
LSU had another 4-0 week to stay in second. The Tigers
defeated Alcorn State on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game SEC series from
No. 8 Kentucky at home to extend their win streak to 12. LSU is first in one
poll, second in three polls and third in the
other.
Vanderbilt also went 4-0 to hang onto third. The
Commodores beat Middle Tennessee at home on Tuesday before winning three SEC
contests at No. 16 Ole Miss to stretch their win streak to 10. Vanderbilt is second in one poll and third in the other four polls.
Cal State Fullerton had a 4-0 week to remain in fourth. The Titans
won at No. 10 UCLA on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game Big West series at
UC Davis. Cal State Fullerton is fourth in four
polls and fifth in the other.
Virginia put together a 4-0 week to hold onto fifth. The
Cavaliers won at Liberty on Tuesday and defeated VMI at home on Wednesday
before winning the first two games of their ACC series at Wake Forest. Virginia is fourth in one poll
and fifth in the other four.
South Carolina was the big riser, climbing five spots into a
tie for ninth. Kentucky (No. 13) and UCLA (No. 15) both fell five places.
Arizona State (No. 18), NC State (No. 19) and Notre Dame (No.
20) return to the poll. Ole Miss, Cal Poly and Houston dropped from
the rankings.
The CBI Composite Poll contains five teams from the ACC and SEC. There
are four from the Pac-12, two from the Big East, and single entries
from the Big West, Big Ten, Big 12 and Conference USA.
