Florida State takes over top spot in CBI Composite Poll

Kentucky climbs to second, Texas A&M up to No. 3, Florida falls to fourth

For the first time this season, Florida is not the No. 1 team in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

Florida State has risen to the top spot in this week's poll.

The Seminoles lost to FGCU on Wednesday before sweeping a three-game ACC set at Georgia Tech. Florida State is first in three polls and second in the other.

Kentucky continued its special season by going 3-1 to place second. The Wildcats topped Dayton on Wednesday before taking two of three from No. 16 Ole Miss in SEC play. Kentucky is first in one poll, second in one poll and third in the other two.

Texas A&M went 4-0 to rise three spots to No. 3. The Aggies knocked off UTSA on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game Big 12 series from Oklahoma. Texas A&M is second in two polls, third in one and sixth in the other.

Florida went 1-3 and fell from first to fourth. The Gators lost at North Florida on Tuesday before dropping two of three to SEC-rival LSU. Florida is fourth in three polls and seventh in the other.

LSU climbed four places to No. 5. The Tigers topped Louisiana College before taking two of three from Florida in Gainesville. LSU has poll rankings of third, fifth, seventh and eighth.

Baylor was the biggest climber, using a three-game Big 12 sweep of Missouri to rise from No. 17 to No. 11.

Oregon State and NC State fell out of the poll, while Purdue debuted at No. 18 and San Diego checked in at No. 20.

This week's poll includes six SEC teams and four from the Pac-12. There are three from the ACC, two from the Big 12 and Conference USA and single entries from the Big Ten, Big West and West Coast Conference.

About the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll

The CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll weighs the four primary national polls, thereby providing the most accurate national ranking. In case of ties in the composite ranking, the team with a higher individual ranking will come first.

Why a composite poll? CBI felt that four national polls was enough. Plus, each week you find discrepancies that make it tough to gauge where a team really is. This week's example: Baylor is No. 5 in one poll, No. 17 in another.
