Florida remains unanimous No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll

South Carolina stays second, Stanford still third, Texas A&M up to fourth

After taking two of three from No. 20 Cal State Fullerton this past weekend, Florida remains the unanimous No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

The USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll will not have its first regular-season ranking until Feb. 27, so this week's CBI Composite Poll includes just the Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA polls.

The Gators posted wins of 7-3 on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday in Gainesville before the Titans salvaged the Sunday game by a score of 8-5.

South Carolina remained in second place. The Gamecocks swept a three-game home series from VMI. South Carolina was second in two polls and third in the other.

Stanford stayed at No. 3. The Cardinal dominated Vanderbilt in winning a three-game home set. Stanford was second in one poll and third in the other two polls.

Texas A&M moved up one spot to fourth. The Aggies took three from UIC in College Station. Texas A&M was fourth in two polls and sixth in the other.

Arkansas also climbed one place to No. 5. The Razorbacks took care of Villanova in a three-game home series. Arkansas was fourth in one poll, fifth in one poll and eighth in the other.

Georgia was the biggest climber, rising from No. 18 to No. 13 after its three-game sweep of Presbyterian at home.

UCLA dropped out of this week's poll, while Oregon State debuted at No. 18.

This week's poll includes six SEC teams and five from the ACC. There are three from both the Big 12 and Pac-12 and single entries from the Big West, Conference USA and Mountain West.

About the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll

The CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll weighs the four primary national polls, thereby providing the most accurate national ranking. In case of ties in the composite ranking, the team with a higher individual ranking will come first.

Why a composite poll? CBI felt that four national polls was enough. Plus, each week you find discrepancies that make it tough to gauge where a team really is. This week's example: Arizona is No. 8 in one poll, No. 22 in another.
