Longhorns remain on top in CBI Composite Poll

Same Top 5 spots: Texas, Virginia, Arizona State, Coastal Carolina, Florida

 

With a doubleheader sweep of Louisiana Tech on Sunday, the Texas Longhorns remained at No. 1 in the latest CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

Texas is first in the Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and USA Today/ESPN polls and second in the Baseball America poll. The Longhorns were off during the week before registering two non-conference wins at home against Louisiana Tech on Sunday.

 

Virginia is first the the Baseball America poll and second in the other three polls to take second in the CBI poll. The Cavaliers swept a three-game ACC series from North Carolina in Charlottesville.

 

Arizona State is third in all four polls. The Sun Devils beat BYU twice during the week before splitting a Pac-10 pair at Arizona over the weekend.

 

Coastal Carolina topped Winthrop and swept a three-game series at second-place Liberty to remain undefeated in Big South play. The Chanticleers are fourth in the CBI poll.

 

Florida stayed at No. 5 after beating Florida Atlantic and sweeping a three-game SEC series from Georgia..

 

South Carolina went 5-0, with a three-game sweep at Arkansas, to climb four spots to No. 6. Cal State Fullerton clinched the Big West's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with its three-game sweep at Long Beach State and also jumped four places to No. 10.

 

No teams dropped out of this week's poll.
