Arizona State is unanimous No. 1 in CBI Composite
Poll
Texas climbs to second, Georgia Tech is up to third, Virginia
drops to fourth
The Arizona State Sun Devils
avoided a loss this past week to remain No. 1 in the latest CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.
Arizona State, under head coach Tim Esmay (left), is first in all four
national polls. The Sun Devils swept a three-game Pac-10 series with USC to
raise its record to 31-3.
Texas took a two-step jump to No. 2. The
Longhorns are second in three polls and third in one. Texas topped Texas State
on Tuesday before taking three from Big 12 rival Texas A&M.
Georgia Tech also climbed two spots to
No. 3. The Yellow Jackets won at Georgia on Wednesday before sweeping an ACC
series with No. 17 Clemson.
Virginia fell one place to fourth. The
Cavaliers lost at VMI on Wednesday before taking two of three from in-state
foe Virginia Tech.
LSU moved up one spot to No. 5. The
Tigers topped Tulane before sweeping a three-game SEC set from Alabama.
Cal State Fullerton rose four places to
No. 16, while UCLA and Oklahoma both dropped five spots.
Arizona, Kansas State, California and Vanderbilt entered this
week's poll, while Oregon State, Clemson, Ole Miss and Western Kentucky
dropped out.
