1 Texas Tech
2 Dallas Baptist
3 Florida
4 Army
Texas Tech is a national seed for the third time in four years. The Red Raiders are trying to break a streak of reaching Omaha only in even years (2014, 2016 and 2018). They have the offense to do it with a .301 team average and a pair of big bats in Cameron Warren (.361/14/67) and Josh Jung (.332/11/53). Dallas Baptist is in the Regionals for the sixth straight year, and per usual, has some high-end arms in M.D. Johnson (9-2, 2.46, 105 K in 91.1 IP) and Jordan Martinson (8-3, 2.50, 108 K in 93.2 IP). Florida isn’t accustomed to being a 3-seed, but the Gators will look to put their pitching together (5.22 ERA) and get production from Brady McConnell (.341/15/47) and Nelson Maldonado (.332/10/41). Army is always a tough out in NCAA tourney play – so is Jacob Hurtubise, who is hitting .383, has stolen 45 of 52 bases and has an on-base average of .550, thanks to 68 walks (and 7 HBP) against 23 strikeouts.
Sean – It’s hard to pick against Texas Tech, but Dallas Baptist could give them a little trouble. Red Raiders prevail.
Phil: Cameron Warren, Josh Jung, Caleb Kilian and Texas Tech takes care of business against DBU & UF to move on.
