1 Georgia Tech
2 Auburn
3 Coastal Carolina
4 Florida A&M
What a turnaround for Georgia Tech, which went from a 31-27 non-Regional team to a 41-17 Regional host and national seed. The Yellow Jackets are back in the field for the first time since 2016. Tech features a scary offense with plenty of pop in Kyle McCann (.298/23/66), and Tristin English is one of the best two-way players in the country. Auburn does it more with pitching, notably Tanner Burns (95 K in 74 IP), and doesn’t boast a hitter over .300. Coastal Carolina, on the other hand, does it with hitting, with eight regulars over .300, and five with more than 10 bombs – watch out for Kieton Rivers (.327/13/64), Parker Chavers (.325/13/52), Jake Wright (.358/10/48) and Zach Biermann (.309/17/76). Kyle Coleman (6-5, 3.26) and Jeremiah McCollum (11 SV, .197 BAA) lead the Rattlers.
Sean – Love the matchup between Auburn and Coastal in the first round…arms vs. bats! Georgia Tech knocks off Coastal in the end.
Phil: Coastal Carolina and Auburn provide stiff competition, but Tristin English and Georgia Tech survive and advance.
