Taylor sparks Texas A&M past LSU

Florida State thumps Miami, Vandy downs Missouri, UCLA blanks Stanford

 

No. 2 Texas A&M 6, No. 1 LSU 2

In Baton Rouge, La., Logan Taylor had a two-run single to spark a four-run third as Texas A&M salvaged the finale of its SEC series at LSU. Ryne Birk homered for the Aggies (13-7, 37-7). Kyle Simonds (3-1, 5 IP, 8 H, 2 R, ER, BB, K) picked up the win, while Andrew Vinson (2.1 IP, H, 3 K) earned his third save. Andrew Stevenson went 2 for 4 with a double and a run for the Tigers (14-6, 37-7).

 

No. 12 Florida State 15, No. 13 Miami 5

In Coral Gables, Fla., Dylan Busby had a three-run double to cap a five-run third as Florida State clinched an ACC series win at Miami. Chris Marconcini (2 for 4, 4 RBI) had a two-run single had a seven-run fourth for the Seminoles (16-7, 33-12). Mike Compton (2-1, 8 IP, 11 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 4 K) recorded the win. Jacob Heyward went 2 for 2 with two RBI for the Hurricanes (15-8, 30-13).

 

No. 11 Vanderbilt 12, No. 18 Missouri 2

In Nashville, Tenn., Zander Wiel belted a grand slam in the eighth as Vanderbilt secured an SEC series win over Missouri. Rhett Wiseman had a three-run homer in the third for the Commodores (14-6, 32-12). Philip Pfeifer (3-2, 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 BB) struck out 13 in recording the win. Jake Ivory went deep for the Tigers (12-8, 26-17).

 

No. 3 UCLA 10, Stanford 0

In Stanford, Calif., Grant Watson tossed 6.1 scoreless innings as UCLA evened its Pac-12 series with Stanford. Watson (7-3) allowed four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Darrell Miller Jr. had two hits and three RBI to lead the offense for the Bruins (15-5, 30-9). Drew Jackson and Alex Dunlap both had two hits for the Cardinal (5-12, 18-22).

 

No. 4 Louisville 7, Bethune-Cookman 2

In Louisville, Ky., Nick Solak had a two-run double in the fourth as Louisville took the lead for good in clinching a series win over Bethune-Cookman. Blake Tiberi added a two-run double in the fifth for the Cardinals (33-10). Brendan McKay (7-1, 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB) struck out 11 in recording the win. Nathan Bond went 1 for 4 with a double, a run and an RBI for the Wildcats (15-33).

 

Tennessee Tech 7, No. 7 Arizona State 4

In Phoenix, Ariz., Jordan Hopkins had a two-run triple to cap a four-run ninth as Tennessee Tech rallied past Arizona State to even their series. Tyler Brazelton went 4 for 4 with two runs while Chase Chambers drove in three and scored twice for the Golden Eagles (20-20). Joey Bielek had three hits and a run for the Sun Devils (27-12).

 

Oregon State 3, No. 8 USC 2

In Corvallis, Ore., Billy King drove in the game-winner with a base hit in the bottom of the ninth as Oregon State edged USC to level their Pac-12 series. Dane Lund went 3 for 3 with two runs, while Jeff Hendrix drove in a pair for the Beavers (9-8, 26-13). Dante Flores went 2 for 4 with one RBI for the Trojans (11-6, 30-11).
