In Los Angeles, Ty Moore stayed hot with
three RBI, and Griffin Canning allowed one earned run in
five innings as UCLA won its Pac-12 series with USC.
Canning (5-2) allowed three runs in total, and David Berg
tossed two scoreless frames for his eighth save. Kevin
Kramer added two hits, two runs and an RBI, and Darrell
Miller Jr., went 2 for 4 with a solo homer for the Bruins
(12-3, 25-7). Garrett Stubbs went 2 for 4 with a run to
lead the Trojans (8-4, 26-9).
No. 2 Texas A&M 13, Mississippi State 5
In College Station, Texas, Nick Banks and
Ronnie Gideon each hit grand slams as Texas A&M won its
SEC series with Mississippi State. Leading 4-3, Banks
ripped his grand slam in the fourth inning for an 8-3
lead. Gideon, who finished with five RBI, capped the
scoring with his slam. Blake Allemand added two runs and
two RBI for the Aggies (11-3, 33-3). Wes Rea went 3 for 4
with a solo homer for the Bulldogs (6-9, 22-16).
No. 3 LSU 6, Auburn 2
In Baton Rouge, La., Mark Laird went 2 for
4 with two runs and an RBI as LSU scored six times in the
first three innings and clinched its SEC series with
Auburn. Zac Person (2-0) tossed three innings in his
second career start to pick up the win for the Tigers
(10-5, 31-6). Parker Bugg tossed four innings of solid
relief for LSU. Ben Craft and Kyler Deese each had three
hits and an RBI for Auburn (5-10, 21-15).
Kansas State 6, No. 4 TCU 2
In Manhattan, Kan., Levi MaVorhis allowed
two earned runs in seven innings, and Tyler Wolfe drove in
three as Kansas State (4-8, 16-18) earned a series win
over TCU. Jake Wodtke added two hits and three runs in
support of MaVorhis, who was making his first start since
Feb. 20. Cody Jones and Evan Skoug each had two hits and
an RBI for the Horned Frogs (7-5, 26-8).
No. 6 Louisville 11, Duke 1
In Durham, N.C., Sutton Whiting had two
hits and four RBI, and Brendan McKay added two hits and
three RBI as Louisville captured its ACC series with Duke.
Jake Rogers (6-1) struck out seven and allowed one run in
seven innings for the Cardinals (16-2, 27-8). Duke fell to
5-13, 22-15.
Towson 20, Hofstra 19 (10)
In West Hempstead, N.Y., Chris Henze went 4
for 5 with two doubles, a homer and a school-record nine
RBI as Towson edged Hofstra in extra innings after the
Pride scored 13 runs in the bottom of the ninth to force
extra innings. The Tigers (4-8 CAA, 9-23-1) scored four
times in the top of the 10th, with Collin Dyer doubling in
a run and A.J. Gallo (3 RBI), Spencer Sutton and Thayer
Seely adding RBI. The Pride, which got four hits and five
RBI from David Leiderman, scored three before Bruce
Zimmermann got a strikeout to end it.
Notre Dame 2, No. 9 Florida State 1
In Notre Dame, Ind., Connor Hale earned the
win in relief as Notre Dame completed the ACC series sweep
of Florida State. Hale (1-0) worked 3.2 innings with three
hits, one run, one walk and one strikeout. Evy Ruibal tossed
3.1 scoreless innings with three hits and two punchouts
before Scott Tully fanned the final two batters to record
his first save. Cavan Biggio had an RBI double in the fourth
and Zak Kutsulis homered in the fifth for the Irish (9-9
24-10). DJ Stewart went 1 for 4 with one RBI for the
Seminoles (11-7, 26-12).
No. 10 Florida 12, South Carolina 2
In Gainesville, Fla., JJ Schwarz homered
twice, knocked in three and scored four as Florida swept its
SEC series from South Carolina. Buddy Reed and Mike Rivera
both drove in a pair for the Gators (9-6, 28-9), who scored
in double figures in each game of th series. Alex Faedo
(3-1, 5.2 IP, 2 H, R, BB, 6 K) picked up the victory. Gene
Cone and Kyle Martin both went deep for the Gamecocks (6-9,
23-14).
No. 11 Miami 9, Virginia Tech 1
In Coral Gables, Fla., Enrique Sosa allowed
three hits and one run in seven innings as Miami completed
the ACC sweep of Virginia Tech. Sosa (5-3) did not walk a
batter and struck out six. David Thompson went 2 for 3 with
a double, a homer, two runs and three RBI to lead the
offense for the Hurricanes (14-4, 28-9). Sean Keselica went
1 for 3 with a double for the Hokies (7-11, 17-20).
Cal State Northridge 3, No. 12 UC Santa
Barbara 2 (13)
In Northridge, Calif., William Colantono had
an RBI single in the bottom of the 13th as Cal State
Northridge edged UC Santa Barbara to avoid the Big West
series sweep. Colantono finished with three hits and two
RBI, while Yusuke Akitoshi had two hits and two runs for the
Matadors (2-7, 21-13). Spencer O'Neil had a pinch-hit homer
in the ninth for CSUN to force extra innings. Woody Woodward
went 5 for 6 with a pair of doubles for the Gauchos (4-2,
26-8).
