St. John's Tops Big East Preseason Poll

St. John's took first in a very close vote in the Big East preseason coaches' poll as released by the conference office.

The Red Storm received three first-place votes and 32 points to edge second-place Creighton with two first-place votes and 31 points. Seton Hall earned the other two first-place votes and accrued 29 points to take third, followed by Xavier, Villanova, Butler and Georgetown.

Creighton junior first baseman Reagan Fowler was voted Preseason Player of the Year, while juniors Luke Cahill of Seton Hall and Matt Warren of Creighton shared Preseason Pitcher-of-the-Year Honors.
