Notes: Missouri State enters the tournament on a 16-game winning streak including going 4-0 in the MVC Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 45-10 record and being selected as a host site for the first round of NCAA Regionals.  Missouri State is 14-17 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and has won at least two games in five of their last six trips to the NCAA Tournament.  Missouri State had a total of eight players selected to the All-MVC Conference team, including five first-team selections.  Coach Keith Guttin was selected MVC Coach of the Year for the fifth time, while senior Joey Hawkins was elected MVC Defensive Player of the Year and Jake Burger, the team’s top hitter was named Rookie of the Year.  Junior pitcher Jon Harris was the sixth Missouri State pitcher to be named MVC Pitcher of the Year as well as being one of 60 players named to the midseason USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award watch list.  The Bears were ranked eighth in the last national poll released.

Notes: The Hawkeyes earned an at-large bid to make it into their first NCAA Tournament since the 1990 season.  The Hawkeyes had six players, a school record, earn All-B1G honors including Blake Hickman who was awarded first-team honors.  Hickman went 9-1 on the season including 7-0 in league play which was tied for first in the league.  The nine wins is the most for a Hawkeye pitcher since 2005 and is the fourth most wins in school history for a single season. Rick Heller has guided the Hawkeyes to 30-win seasons in his first two years, the first time they've won 30-plus games in back-to-back seasons since 1989-90. One more win will give Iowa its first 40-win season since 1985.

 

3. Oregon Ducks

Eugene, Oregon

Notes: The Ducks made a late season surge this year to earn an at-large bid from the PAC-12 to qualify for their fourth straight NCAA tournament.  The Ducks won all five of their final series and nine of their last ten games, including two of three against Pac-12 champs UCLA, to fight their way into the postseason picture.  Oregon put together two walk-off wins against UCLA, who were named the number one overall seed in the NCAA tournament.  Junior first baseman Scott Heineman was recently named Psc-12 Player of the Week after putting up big numbers in the final week of the regular season.  Scott hit .562 as the Ducks went 3-1 to force their way into the postseason picture.

 

4. Canisius Golden Griffins

Buffalo, New York

2015 record: 16-8, 34-28

Notes: The Golden Griffins earned the automatic bid from the MAAC this season to return to the NCAA tournament after missing out last season.  Canisius pulled off a miracle in the MAAC Tournament by winning five straight elimination games including championship game victories over the defending MAAC champions Siena.  The Golden Griffins have won eight of their last nine games entering the tournament.  Junior outfield Brett Siddall was named the MAAC Player of the Year this season as well as being a first-team All-MAAC selection.  Seniors Connor Panas and Devon Stewart were also awarded All-MAAC honors.  Siddall was a threat from the plate all year this season driving in 55 runs, good for first in the MAAC, and hammering out 11 home runs.  Panas was named MAAC Player of the Year last year giving the Griffins back-to-back Players of the Year.  Devon Stewart, named to the second team All-MAAC moved into second place on the all-time strikeouts list at Canisius after posting 67 strikeouts on the season.
