Baton Rouge Regional

#1 LSU 10, #4 Lehigh 3

Andrew Stevenson went 3 for 5 with two runs and an RBI, and LSU stole eight bases in getting past Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks (25-30) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning when Mike Garzillo doubled and scored on an error, and Patrick Walshe followed with an RBI double off Austin Bain, one of seven pitchers used by the Tigers (49-10). LSU came right back with two runs as Danny Zardon had an RBI grounder and a wild pitch scored Chris Chinea. Kade Scivicque had the first of his two RBI to give LSU its first lead in the fifth; his second came after Chris Sciambra had an RBI double and Conner Hale added a bases-loaded walk as the Tigers extended the lead to 6-2 in the sixth. The Tigers won their 26th straight Regional opener and stole eight bases for the first time since 1995. Tim McKay went 2 for 3 for Lehigh. LSU next meets UNC Wilmington; Lehigh faces Tulane in an elimination game.

 

Ryan Foster went the distance with eight hits, one walk and six strikeouts ass UNCW took care of Tulane. Corey Dick had two singles, a run and an RBI in a seven-run fourth for the Seahawks (40-16). Luke Dunlap (3 for 3, 2B, R) and Gavin Stupienski (2 for 4, 2B, 2 R) both knocked in two for UNCW. Stephen Alemais went 2 for 4 with a triple and a run for the Green Wave (34-24).

 

Champaign Regional

#1 Illinois 10, #4 Ohio 3

#2 Notre Dame 13, #3 Wright State 7

 

David Kerian had a three-run homer to spark a five-run second as Illinois took care of Ohio. Kerian scored twice, while Ryne Roper (2 for 3, 2 RBI) also went deep for the Illini (48-8). Kevin Duchene pitched the complete game for Illinois with seven hits, three runs, three walks and one strikeout. John Adryan homered for the Bobcats (36-20).

 

Ryan Bull and Robert Youngdahl both had three hits, including a homer, and four RBI as Notre Dame outscored Wright State. The Irish (37-21) erased a 3-0 deficit with four in the third as Bull and Youngdahl both delivered two-run doubles. Notre Dame built on a 7-6 lead with six in the eighth as Cavan Biggio (2 for 5, 2 R) had a three-run homer and Youngdahl added a two-run dinger. Ryan Fucci and Andrew McCafferty both went deep for the Raiders (41-16).

 

College Station Regional

#1 Texas A&M 5, #4 Texas Southern 0

#3 California 9, #2 Coastal Carolina 3

 

Matt Kent hurled seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts as Texas A&M blanked Texas Southern. Kent allowed six hits and one walk. Andrew Vinson fanned three over the final two innings to record the save. The Aggies (46-11) scored two in the fourth and three in the eighth. Nick Banks (2 for 4) homered and drove in two. Robert Garza and Kamren Dukes both had two hits for the Tigers (31-18).

 

Daulton Jefferies allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts in seven innings, and battery-mate Mitchell Kranson went 3 for 4 with two RBI as California beat Coastal Carolina. Aaron Knapp and Devin Pearson had two-out RBI doubles as the Golden Bears (35-19) took a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning. Cal then added a run in the sixth and pulled away with two runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth. Lucas Erceg and Chris Paul each added two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Bears. G.K. Young went 2 for 4 with a run for the Chanticleers (38-20).

 

Coral Gables Regional

Dallas Regional

Kyle Nobach had an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to snap a 4-4 tie as Oregon State edged Texas. Nobach finished with two hits and two RBI for the Beavers (39-16-1). Sheldon Church recorded the final out in the eighth to record the win, while Mitch Hickey pitched a hitless ninth to earn the save. Brooks Marlow (2 for 3, 2 R) belted a two-run homer with two away in the top of the eighth as the Longhorns (30-26) knotted the score at 4-4.

 

Fort Worth Regional

#1 TCU 10, #4 Sacred Heart 0

#2 NC State 3, #3 Stony Brook 0

 

Mitchell Traver tossed seven scoreless innings as TCU shut out Sacred Heart. Traver allowed four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Brian Grieglaff (2 IP, H, BB, 5 K) completed the shutout for the Horned Frogs (44-11). Cody Jones (2 for 3, 2 BB, 2 R) homered, while Derek Odell drove in three for TCU. Zack Short and Victor Sorrento both went 1 for 3 with a walk for the Pioneers (23-31-1).

 

Curt Britt and Will Gilbert combined on a six-hit shutout as NC State blanked Stony Brook. Britt allowed four hits and two walks with two strikeouts, while Gilbert surrendered two hits and two walks in 3.2 innings with two punchouts. Logan Ratledge (2 for 4) had a two-run homer in the sixth for the Wolfpack (35-21) to snap a scoreless tie. Jack Parenty went 3 for 3 for the Seawolves (34-15-1).

 

Fullerton Regional

#1 Cal State Fullerton 9, #4 Pepperdine 3

#2 Arizona State 7, #3 Clemson 4

 

Tanner Pinkston had two doubles and three RBI as Cal State Fullerton defeated Pepperdine. The Titans (35-22) used a six-run third to erase a 2-1 deficit. Tyler Stieb had two hits and three runs, while Jerrod Bravo drove in a pair for Fullerton. Miles Chambers (2.1 IP, BB, 3 K) earned the win in relief. Brad Anderson went 1 for 3 with a walk, a run and an RBI for the Waves (30-28).

 

Ryan Kellogg turned in seven innings with two runs, and Joey Bielek and Brian Serven hit back-to-back homers to put Arizona State in front in the seventh inning of a comeback win over Clemson. Trailing 2-1, Bielek hit a two-run shot off Matthew Crownover, who had been cruising through six innings. Serven then follwed with a solo shot the next pitch for a 4-2 lead. ASU (35-21) added three more runs in the eighth on Colby Woodmansee’s RBI and a two-run triple from Trever Allen, who finished with three RBI for a 7-2 lead. Eli White and Andrew Cox each had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers (33-28), who scored twice in the ninth before Ryan Burr put out the fire for his 14th save.

 

Gainesville Regional

#1 Florida 19, #4 Florida A&M 0

#3 USF 5, #2 Florida Atlantic 3

 

JJ Schwarz drove in five to lead Florida past Florida A&M. Schwarz went 4 for 5 with a double a homer and three runs, while Harrison Bader drove in three and scored twice for the Gators (45-16). Logan Shore (5 IP, 2 H, BB, 2 K) earned the victory. AJ Elkins, Marion Gibbs and Ryan Kennedy each had a hit for the Rattlers (23-24).

 

Jimmy Herget allowed three runs (two earned) over seven innings, and Kyle Teaf went 4 for 5 with two triples, two runs and two RBI as USF trumped FAU. Herget (10-3) became the 13th pitcher in school history to reach 10 wins by scattering nine hits and striking out four. The Bulls (34-24-1) scored a run in the first before Teaf had a two-run single for a 3-1 lead in the second inning. Kevin Merrell added two hits and two runs, including an RBI double to score Teaf in the fourth for a 4-3 lead. Billy Endris and Stephen Kerr each had two hits and a run for the Owls (40-18).

 

Houston Regional

#1 Houston 6, #4 Houston Baptist 4

#3 UL Lafayette 7, #2 Rice 6

 

Corey Julks had a three-run homer to highlight a six-run third as Houston downed Houston Baptist. Connor Wong had three hits and a run as the Cougars (43-18) erased an early 4-0 deficit. Andrew Lantrip (9 IP, 9 H, 4 R) struck out eight and did not walk a batter in recording the victory. Zach Nehrir (2 for 4, 2 R) homered and Andrew Alvarez drove in a pair for the Huskies (28-26).

 

Blake Trahan had a sacrifice fly to cap a five-run ninth as UL Lafayette rallied past Rice. The Ragin' Cajuns (40-21) trailed 6-2 after eight before Kyle Clement started the rally by striking out but reaching first on a wild pitch. A pair of walks loaded the bases before a base hit by Evan Powell (3 for 4) drove in one and Greg Davis (2 for 4, 3 RBI) added a two-run single to make it 6-5. Following an error, Dylan Butler drew a bases-loaded walk to knot the score at 6-6 before Trahan's sacrifice fly gave ULL the lead. Dylan Moore pitched a perfect ninth to save the win for Will Bacon (3.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, BB, 4 K). Ryan Chandler (2 for 3) and Grayson Lewis (1 for 4) both drove in two for the Owls (35-21).

 

Lake Elsinore Regional

#4 San Diego State 4, #1 UC Santa Barbara 3

#3 Virginia 6, #2 USC 1

 

Steven Pallares stole home in the top of the eighth to snap a 3-3 tie as San Diego State nipped UC Santa Barbara. Pallares finished with a homer, three hits and three runs for the Aztecs (41-21). Bubba Derby (7 H, 3 R, BB) fanned nine in the complete-game victory. Andrew Calica went 4 for 4 with two doubles, one run and one RBI for the Gauchos (40-16-1).

 

Connor Jones turned in another brilliant outing, going 7.2 innings with one earned run and four strikeouts, as Virginia knocked off USC, which is playing in its first NCAA Tournament since 2005. Jones and Trojans starter Kyle Davis, who had a no-hitter entering the seventh, put up zeroes for six innings before the Cavaliers (35-22) struck first. After an error to lead off the inning, Kenny Towns delivered Virginia’s first hit. After a sacrifice bunt, Robbie Coman’s grounder off Davis’ glove scored the first run. Towns then came in on a wild pitch. Adam Haseley doubled and scored in the eighth and added an RBI single in the ninth as Virginia pulled away. Ernie Clement had a two-run bloop double in the ninth for the Cavaliers. Garrett Stubbs went 2 for 3 with a run for the Trojans (37-20).

 

Los Angeles Regional

#1 UCLA 7, CSU Bakersfield 2

#3 Maryland 3, #2 Ole Miss 1

 

James Kaprielian allowed two runs over seven innings as UCLA downed CSU Bakersfield. Kaprielian surrendered five hits with one walk and six strikeouts. David Berg struck out the side in the ninth to record the save. The Bruins (43-14) scored in each of their final six at-bats. Luke Persico and Christoph Bono both had two hits and two RBI for UCLA. Chance Gusbeth (2 for 4) homered for the Roadrunners (36-23).

 

Mike Shawaryn and three relievers combined on a two-hitter as Maryland edged Ole Miss. Shawaryn allowed two hits and a run in 5.1 innings with five walks and nine strikeouts. Robert Galligan (0.2 IP, BB, K), Bobby Ruse (2 IP, 2 K) and Kevin Mooney (1 IP, 3 K, SV) held the lead for the Terps (40-21). Kevin Smith went 2 for 5 with a double, a run and an RBI for Maryland. Will Golsan and Colby Bortles both went 1 for 4 for the Rebels (30-27).

 

Louisville Regional

#1 Louisville 7, #4 Morehead State 2

#3 Michigan 10, #2 Bradley 5

 

Devin Hairston went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and one RBI to lead Louisville past Morehead State. Logan Taylor had two hits and two RBI for the Cardinals (44-16). Kyle Funkhouser (7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, BB, 6 K) picked up the win. Kane Sweeney (2 for 4, 2 RBI) homered for the Eagles (38-21).

 

Kendall Patrick went 3 for 4 with a double, two homers, three runs and five RBI as Michigan downs Bradley. Patrick had a two-run homer in the second, an RBI double in the fourth and another two-run dinger in the ninth. Johnny Slater went 3 for 4 with two runs, while Cody Bruder had two hits and three runs for the Wolverines (38-23). Matt Ogden (6.2 IP, 5 H, R, 2 BB, 7 K) earned the victory. Isaac Smith went 3 for 5 with one run and one RBI, while Drew Carlile belted a three-run homer in the ninth for the Braves (35-20).

 

Nashville Regional

#1 Vanderbilt 9, #4 Lipscomb 1

#3 Indiana 7, #2 Radford 1

 

Carson Fulmer fanned 11 over seven innings as Vanderbilt took care of Lipscomb. Fulmer allowed four hits and a run with three walks. Jeren Kendall went 2 for 4 with a double, a hoer and three RBI, while Will Toffey had two hits, two runs and two RBI for the Commodores (43-19). Adam Lee went 1 for 3 with a walk and an RBI for the Bisons (39-19).

 

Brian Wilhite had a two-run double and scored in the top of the fourth as Indiana overwhelmed Radford. The Highlanders (43-15) had a chance to take the lead the bottom of the first as Shane Johnsonbaugh and Josh Reavis (2 for 4, R) had consecutive singles to put runners on the corners. Reavis took off for second on a 3-2 pitch. Patrick Marshall struck out looking and Reavis was thrown out at second. Johnsonbaugh was caught between third and home and was tagged out just before returning to third. Craig Dedelow had two hits, including a homer, and two RBI for the Hoosiers (35-22). Kyle Hart (7 IP, 5 H, UE, 6 K) earned the win.

 

Springfield Regional

#2 Iowa 3, #3 Oregon 1

#1 Missouri State vs. #4 Canisius ppd.

 

Tyler Peyton allowed seven hits and a run in 7.1 innings as Iowa edged Oregon. Peyton (7-4) did not walk a batter and struck out five. Nick Hibbing (1.2 IP, 3 H, K) earned his eighth save. Nick Roscetti drove in a pair and scored once for the Hawkeyes (40-16). Jakob Goldfarb, Phil Craig-St. Louis and Tim Susnara each had two hits for the Ducks (37-24).

 

The second game between Missouri State and Canisius was postponed due to inclement weather and will be played at noon on Saturday.
