First-year coach Cliff Godwin played at ECU under Keith LeClair
and came back to ECU after assisting at Ole Miss, which reached
Omaha last year. East Carolina is 11-12 against other teams in
the tournament. Hunter Allen was named the MOP of the American
tournament – his father Robbie played at Clemson and was a
member of the Tigers’ 1980 CWS team. Catcher Luke Lowery’s
father is a longtime high school baseball coach in Virginia, and
his brother Jake won the 2011 Johnny Bench Award given to
college baseball’s best catcher. Reid Love does a little of
everything, playing center field and pitching – opponents hit
.258 off him. Closer Joe Ingle has been lights out as opponents

championship series. The Lions opened the season by splitting
four games at top-10 Houston. Coach Brett Borretti, who
previously was the head coach at Franklin & Marshall, was a
standout catcher at Davidson and was inducted into the Wildcats
Hall of Fame in 2010. Outfielder Gus Craig was the Ivy Co-Player
