USC defeats Cal State Fullerton, Florida
State stops Jacksonville
In
Houston, Keenan Cook doubled in Leon Byrd and scored on John
Williamson’s single to right as No. 15 Rice rallied to beat
Texas State 4-3 in 11 innings Tuesday night, giving Owls coach
Wayne Graham (right) his 1,000th win at the school. Graham has
compiled a .714 winning percentage (1,000-401) and is in his
23rd season at Rice, starting when he was 55 years old.
Previously, the Hall of Fame coach won 575 games at San Jacinto.

USC 6, No. 1 Cal State Fullerton 1
In Los Angeles, Vahn Bozoian went 3 for 4 with a
solo homer, and Garrett Stubbs added two hits and two RBI as USC
remained unbeaten by tripping up Cal State Fullerton. The trio
of Brent Wheatley, Sean Adler (1-0) and James Guillen combined
to allow four hits and one earned run while striking out nine.
Tyler Stieb drove in the lone run for the Titans (2-2).
No. 5 Florida State 12, Jacksonville 6
In Jacksonville, Fla., John Sansone had three
hits, including a homer, and three RBI, and DJ Stewart
contributed three hits and three runs as Florida State scored
nine times in the final four innings to top Jacksonville. Drew
Luther went 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI for the Dolphins.
No. 11 South Carolina 4, Presbyterian 0
In Columbia, S.C., Kyle Martin went 2 for 4 with
a homer and three RBI, and three South Carolina pitchers
combined on a shutout of Presbyterian.
No. 12 UCLA 7, Cal State Northridge 1
In Los Angeles, Christoph Bono had two hits and
three RBI, and Trent Chatterson added two hits and two RBI as
UCLA topped Cal State Northridge. Grant Dyer (1-0) yielded two
hits over five scoreless frames, and David Berg picked up his
first save for the Bruins (3-1). Ryan Raslowsky drove in the
only run for the Matadors (2-2).
