San Diego uses five-run seventh to rally past UNLV

NMSU nips Texas Tech, UC Davis tops SJSU, Washington State beats Brown

 

In San Diego, A.J. Robinson had a pinch-hit two-run single to spark a five-run seventh as San Diego rallied past UNLV 6-3 Monday. The Toreros (16-8) trailed 3-1 before the base hit by Robinson tied it at 3. Kris Bryant (1 for 2, 2 BB, R) delivered a RBI double to give USD the lead for good. Connor Joe (1 for 4, HR) and Andrew Daniel (2 for 4) drove in insurance runs later in the frame. Logan Davis went 3 for 4 with a double and a run for the Toreros. Wes Judish (1-1, 3 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K) earned the win, while Max Homick (1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K) registered his second save. T.J. White and Matt McCallister both had two hits and a run for the Rebels (17-8).

 

New Mexico State 7, Texas Tech 6

In Las Cruces, N.M., Gary Goldstrom had a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth as New Mexico State edged Texas Tech. The Aggies (14-12) had tied it with a pair in the eighth. Goldstrom went 4 for 4 with three RBI, while Kyle Phillips was 3 for 4 with four hits (two doubles) and one RBI for NMSU. Christopher Bradley (2-3, 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) picked up the win. Elliot Richoux (3 for 5, 3 RBI) and Brennan Moore (3 for 5, 2 2B, 3 R) led the offense for the Red Raiders (16-11).

 

UC Davis 9, San Jose State 2

In San Jose, Calif., John Williams had three hits and three RBI to lead UC Davis past San Jose State. The Aggies (9-12) used a five-run third to take a 7-0 lead. Spencer Brann went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI, while Mike Mazzara added two hits and two runs for UC Davis. Harry Stanwyck (3-2) retired the first six batters in recording the victory. Matt Carroll had two hits, including a double, and one RBI for the Spartans (7-18).

 

Washington State 3, Brown 1

In Pullman, Wash., Kellen Camus fanned a career-high six in three relief innings as Washington State completed a four-game sweep of Brown. Camus (3-0) allowed one hit and one walk. The Bears (1-10) snapped a scoreless tie with one in the top of the sixth before the Cougars (15-8) tallied single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth. Yale Rosen had two hits and a run for WSU. Dan Massey went 3 for 4 for Brown.

 

Seattle 7, Louisiana Tech 4

In Ruston, La., Nate Roberts went 2 for 5 with a double, two runs and one RBI as Seattle won its WAC series at Louisiana Tech. The Redhawks (2-1, 10-13) scored in each of the first three innings in building a 6-1 lead. Sean Narby (1 for 3, 2B, 2 BB) and Brian Olson (1 for 2, 3 BB) both drove in two for Seattle. Skyler Genger (3-4, 4.1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB) earned the win in relief, while Eric Yardley (1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 K) notched his sixth save. Taylor Terrasas went 4 for 5 with a double and two runs, while Ryan Gebhardt had two hits, including a double, one run and two RBI for the Bulldogs (1-2, 10-16).

 

Northeastern 7, Central Connecticut 0

In New Britain, Conn., Matt Cook and Michael Foster combined on the six-hitter as Northeastern blanked Central Connecticut. Cook (1-0) allowed five hits in seven innings with three walks and one strikeout. Foster surrendered one hit over the final two innings with a pair of strikeouts. The Huskies (11-11) scored single runs in the fourth and seventh before blowing it open with three in the eighth and two in the ninth. Rob Fonseca (2 for 4, 2B, R) and Jason Vosler (1 for 4, R) both drove in two for Northeastern. Dylan DelaCruz had two hits for the Blue Devils (9-7).
