Bryant wins Golden Spikes Award

Bryant, San Diego junior third baseman, is the recipient of the
2013 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award as the top amateur
baseball player in the nation.
Bryant belted 31 home runs for the Toreros, the
top mark in Division I. He also led the country with 80 runs, 66
walks, 187 total bases and a slugging percentage of .820. Bryant
batted .329 in 62 games with 13 doubles and 62 RBI. Bryant was
the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft by the Chicago
Cubs. He was the 36th winner of the Golden Spikes Award.
A native of Las Vegas, Bryant also won the Dick
Howser Trophy.
The other finalists for the Golden Spikes Award
were junior third baseman Colin Moran of North Carolina and
sophomore right-hander Tyler Beede of Vanderbilt.
