LSU Headed to CWS

 

In Baton Rouge, La., JaCoby Jones went 4 for 4 with a double, homer, three runs and two RBI, and Ty Ross contributed two hits and three RBI as LSU beat Oklahoma 11-1 to sweep the Baton Rouge Regional and advance to the College World Series for the 16th time.

 

The Tigers (57-9) tied a school mark for wins in a season and return to Omaha for the first time since 2009, when they won the national title. The win Saturday came before a record crowd of 11,401 at Alex Box Stadium.

 

Ryan Eades tossed four innings and allowed three hits and a run before a nearly 1-hour lightning delay. When play resumed Will LaMarche (3-0) came on and tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless ball to pick up the win.

 

Mark Laird and Raph Rhymes added two hits and two runs apiece, and Alex Bregman and Andrew Stevenson contributed two hits for LSU, which won its sixth Super Regional in 10 tries.

 

Dillon Overton (9-3) allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) in suffering the loss for the Sooners, who end their season at 43-21.
