Dunn to be added to ABCA Hall of Fame

Stetson head coach Pete Dunn (left) will be inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will take place on January 3, 2014 at the annual convention in Dallas. Dunn joins Jack Leggett of Clemson and Paul Mainieri of LSU in the Class of 2014. The entire list of inductees will be announced at a later date.

In 33 seasons as head coach at his alma mater, Dunn has posted a record of 1,202-762-3. He has taken the Hatters to 13 NCAA Regionals and Stetson has won eight Atlantic Sun Conference championships. Dunn has been Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year six times. He has contributed to 1,355 wins in his 39 total years at Stetson, nearly 72% of the all-time total in program history.

Dunn spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Georgia Southern and worked with another ABCA Hall of Fame member, Ron Polk. The pair helped the Eagles reach the College World Series in 1973.

Dunn is eighth in career victories among active Division I coaches. There are four active Division I coaches already in the ABCA Hall of Fame: John Anderson of Minnesota, Mike Gillespie of UC Irvine, Mike Martin of Florida State and Mark Marquess of Stanford.

This will be the third Hall of Fame honor for Dunn. He is also a member of the Stetson University Athletics Hall of Fame and the Central Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
