Shortstop Chris Diaz and outfielder Ryan Mathews also earned
First Team All-ACC honors. Freshman third baseman Trea Turner is
a huge threat one the base paths, as he has stolen 55 bases in
59 attempts. Head coach Elliot Avent is the winningest coach in
program history with 594 victories and has led the Wolfpack to
nine NCAA tournament appearances in 10 years.

Notes: The Commodores
return to the NCAA field for the sixth straight year after their
run to their first College World Series. Vandy went 4-1 in the
SEC Tournament, with two wins over national seed Florida and one
over national seed South Carolina before falling 3-0 to
Mississippi State in the Championship Game. That loss in the SEC
title game snapped a nine-game win streak. Coach Tim Corbin was
an assistant at Clemson before turning Vandy into a national
power. He also spent time as a head coach at Presbyterian,
starting that program from scratch. Taylor Beede was a
first-round pick (21st overall) of the Toronto Blue Jays in the
2011 Draft. Mike Yastrzemski is the grandson of Red Sox HOFer
Carl Yastrzemski.

victories were second most all-time in CAA history … Seahawks
won all 10 series … 11 players earned All-CAA honors including

Seahawks won their third conference title and will appear in
their fifth time … UNCW has played in four regionals held in
North Carolina, their first trip in 2003 was as an at-large in

Notes: SHU won its second consecutive NEC Title and third
in program history this year with a sweep of the NEC Baseball
Tournament. Just like last year, Troy Scribner, Nick Leiningen,
and Kody Kerski threw consecutive complete game victories, with
the final two wins coming against Monmouth at Dodd Stadium in
Norwich, CT. The Pioneers got hot down the stretch, going 11-3
in the final four weeks of the season, including the three
straight wins at the NEC Tournament. Head coach Nick Giaquinto
played four seasons in the NFL and was a member of the
Washington Redskins squad that won Super Bowl XVII in 1983.
