Dartmouth heading to Dominican Republic

The Dartmouth baseball team will head out on Thanksgiving Day for a 10-day trip to the Dominican Republic. The Big Green will play eight games against Dominican professional academies and participate in a community service event in Boca Chica.

This will be Dartmouth’s second trip to the Dominican Republic. The Big Green first went in the fall of 2008.

The trip has primarily been funded through a private donation. The NCAA permits each varsity team to travel internationally once every four years. Ivy League rules prohibit the use of institutional budget funds for international trips.

Wayne Young, the voice of Dartmouth baseball and a catcher on the 1970 Big Green College World Series team, will travel with the team and provide blog updates on Dartmouth’s athletics website, DartmouthSports.com.
