Alexander belts two
grand slams for Dallas Baptist
Cal State Bakersfield nips Arizona State,
Oklahoma blanks SDSU
In Dallas, Texas, K.J. Alexander launched two
grand slams and set a school record with nine RBI as Dallas
Baptist thumped New Orleans 25-2 Thursday in the DBU
Invitational. Alexander’s slams came in the fourth and fifth
innings as the Patriots (7-2) built an 18-0 lead. Tyler Robbins
(2 R, 2 RBI) also went deep for DBU. Jason Krizan (1 for 2, 3 R)
and Josh Wilson (2 for 6, 2 R) both drove in three for the home
team. Will Lane (1 H, 3 BB, 6 K) tossed five scoreless innings
for the win. Nolan Church had a two-run homer in the eighth for
the Privateers (1-7).
Cal State Bakersfield 2, No. 9 Arizona State 1

In Surprise, Ariz., Cael Brockmeyer homered in
the top of the 10th to lift Cal State Bakersfield over Arizona
State at the Coca-Cola Classic. DC Legg had a run-scoring double
in the fifth for the Roadrunners (8-2). Austin Barnes’ RBI
single for the Sun Devils (6-2) tied it in the seventh. ASU left
the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to force the extra
frame. Deven Marrero had three hits and one run for the Sun
Devils. Tommy Hoenshell (2-1) allowed nine hits and one run in
nine innings with three strikeouts to pick up the victory.
Martin Medina gave up a hit and two walks in the 10th, but
registered the save.
No. 3 Oklahoma 4, San Diego State 0
In San Diego, Michael Rocha tossed a five-hit
shutout as Oklahoma defeated San Diego State at Tony Gwynn
Stadium. Rocha (3-0) walked one and struck out five. Cameron
Seitzer had a RBI single in the fourth to start the scoring. He
doubled and scored in a two-run eighth, and the Sooners (11-0)
added a run in the ninth. Tyler Ogle had two hits and a run for
OU. Jomel Torres had two hits for the Aztecs (1-7).
California 6, San Diego 2
In San Diego, Marcus Semien’s grand slam
highlighted a five-run second as Cal defeated San Diego at
Cunningham Stadium. Chadd Krist (2 for 4) added a run-scoring
double in the seventh for the Golden Bears (6-1). The Toreros
(3-5) tallied single runs in the fifth and sixth. Dixon Anderson
(1-1, 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K) earned the victory for Cal.
Austin Booker had two hits, one run and one RBI for the Bears.
Zack Kometani had two hits, including a double, and drove in one
for USD.
Air Force 10, Northern Illinois 8
In Surprise, Ariz., Alex Bast’s grand slam keyed
a five-run sixth as Air Force rallied past Northern Illinois at
the Coca-Cola Classic. Patrick Lobo (3 for 5) went deep in the
seventh for the Falcons (4-4). Blair Roberts had two hits and
two RBI for Air Force. Evan Abrecht (3-0, 5 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 2 BB,
3 K) got the win, while Stephen Colangelo fanned one in a
scoreless ninth for his first save. Alex Jones (2 2B, 2 R, 2
RBI) and Jeff Zimmerman (1 RBI) both had three hits for the
Huskies (0-7).
Loyola Marymount 7, Hawaii 5
In Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount rallied from a
5-0 deficit to edge Hawaii at Page Stadium. The Lions (8-2)
plated five in the sixth before adding single runs in the
seventh and eighth. Matt Koch had three hits, including two
doubles, while Shon Roe and Alex Guthrie both drove in two for
LMU. Bret Dahlson homered in the eighth for the Lions. Sean
Montplaisir had two hits, one run and one RBI for the Rainbows
(3-5). Jason Wheeler (2-0, 7 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 6 K) earned the
win, while Ryan Hawthorne allowed one hit in 1.1 innings with
two strikeouts to record his fourth save.
