Fourth Urban Invitational set
for February
The
fourth Urban Invitational will be held in Southern California
Feb. 25-27.
Four of the six games will be held at Major
League Baseball’s first Urban Youth Academy in Compton, Calif.
Three of the four participating schools are
Historically Black College and Universities: Bethune-Cookman
(led by head coach Mervyl Melendez, pictured right), Grambling
State and Southern. UC Irvine will also participate and host two
games.
On Friday, Feb. 25, Southern will play at UC
Irvine at 6:30 p.m., while Bethune-Cookman meets Grambling State
at 6 p.m. in Compton. Both games on Saturday will be played in
Compton and will be televised on the MLB Network, with UC Irvine
facing Bethune-Cookman at 1 p.m. and Grambling State meeting
Southern at 5 p.m. Grambling State will play at UC Irvine on
Sunday at 1 p.m., while Southern and Bethune-Cookman battle at 1
p.m. in Compton. All times are Pacific.
