#2 Florida 11, Mississippi State 1 (UF leads
series 1-0)
In
Gainesville, Fla., Florida scored in each of the first five
innings, including four in the first, in thumping Mississippi
State in the opener of the Gainesville Super Regional at
McKethan Stadium. Mike Zunino (left) had a two-run single in the
first and Tyler Thompson drove in a pair with a double later in
the frame for the Gators (49-16). Florida belted three home runs
in the contest. Nolan Fontana had a two-run homer in the second
and Zunino (2 for 4, 3 RBI) added a solo shot in the third as
the Gators built a 10-0 lead after five. Jaron Shepherd knocked
in a run with a groundout in the sixth for the Bulldogs (37-24)
before Daniel Pigott went yard in the seventh for UF to complete
the scoring. Bryson Smith went 3 for 5 with two runs and one RBI
for the Gators. Jarrod Parks had two hits and a run for MSU.
Hudson Randall (10-3, 8 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 8 K) picked up the
win. Evan Mitchell (6-2, 2 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 3 BB, 2 K) took the
loss.
Austin Super Regional
Arizona State 3, #7 Texas 1 (ASU leads series
1-0)
In Austin, Texas, Joey DeMichele went 2 for 4
with two RBI as Arizona State edged Texas at UFCU Disch-Falk
Field. DeMichele had a RBI double in a two-run third, the only
extra-base hit of the game, and added a run-scoring single in
the top of the eighth. Brandon Loy drove in the lone run for the
Longhorns (47-17) with a base hit in the bottom of the third.
Brady Rodgers (9-4, 6.2 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 4 K) earned the win for
the Sun Devils (43-16), while Mitchell Lambson was perfect over
the final 2.1 innings with two strikeouts to record his ninth
save. Taylor Jungmann (13-2, 7.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K)
suffered his second straight loss after 13 victories. Jacob
Felts went 2 for 4 for UT.
Chapel Hill Super Regional
#3 North Carolina 5, Stanford 2 (UNC leads
series 1-0)
In Chapel Hill, N.C., Seth Baldwin homered and
drove in three as North Carolina claimed the opener of the
Chapel Hill Super Regional against Stanford in front of 3,489
fans at Boshamer Stadium. Ben Bunting (3 for 4) had a RBI single
in the second before Baldwin’s two-run dinger in the seventh
gave the Tar Heels (49-14) a 3-0 lead. Brian Ragira (2 for 4)
had a two-run single in the top of the eighth as the Cardinal
(35-21) pulled to within one at 3-2. Baldwin drew a bases-loaded
walk before Chaz Frank’s sacrifice fly capped the scoring. Levi
Michael went 2 for 4 for UNC. Patrick Johnson (13-1, 7.2 IP, 5
H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K) earned the victory, while Michael Moran (1.1
IP, 2 H, 1 R) earned his ninth save. Mark Appel (6-7, 6 IP, 7 H,
3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K) suffered the loss.
