Mississippi State wins Atlanta

In Atlanta, Nick Routt pitched the first complete
game of the season for Mississippi State in defeating Georgia
Tech in front of 1,762 fans at Russ Chandler Stadium to win the
Atlanta Regional. Routt (3-3) allowed six hits and two earned
runs with one walk and six strikeouts. The Bulldogs (37-23)
scored in each of the first three innings in building a 6-0
lead. C.T. Bradford went 3 for 5 with one run and four RBI,
while Jaron Shepherd went 2 for 5 with one run and one RBI for

In the first game, Buck Farmer went the distance
as Georgia Tech eliminated Austin Peay. Farmer (11-3) allowed
five hits and one earned run with two walks and nine strikeouts.
Daniel Palka went 3 for 5 with a homer, two runs and three RBI,
while Matt Skole (right) went 3 for 4 with four runs for the

Florida wins Gainesville
Regional
In Gainesville, Fla., Preston Tucker homered and
drove in five as Florida defeated Miami in front of 2,937 fans
at McKethan Stadium to capture the Gainesville Regional. The
Gators (48-16) will host the Gainesville Super Regional and will
meet the winner of the Atlanta Regional finals between
Mississippi State and Georgia Tech. Florida scored three in the
first and eight in the third to take control. Bryson Smith went
2 for 4 with two walks and three runs for the Gators. Alex
Panteliodis (6-2, 6.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 4 K) earned the victory.
Nathan Melendres went 3 for 4 with one run, while Chantz Mack
homered and knocked in two for the Hurricanes (38-23).
In the earlier game, Miami scored four in the
eighth and two in the ninth to rally past
Jacksonville. Chris Pelaez had two hits and two
RBI, while Rony Rodriguez homered for the Hurricanes (38-22).
Daniel Gulbransen had three hits and two RBI for the Dolphins
(37-24).
Austin Regional
#1 Texas 9, #3 Kent State 3

In Austin, Texas, Tant Shepherd went 1 for 2 with
three walks, two runs and one RBI as Texas defeated Kent State
to force a deciding game on Monday at 1 p.m. CT. The Longhorns
(46-16) scored three in the first and never trailed. Kevin
Lusson belted a three-run homer in the ninth for UT. Ben
Klafczynski went 3 for 4 with two RBI for the Golden Flashes
(45-16). Nathan Thornhill (3-0, 3.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K)
earned the win in relief.
In the first game, Kevin Lusson drove in the
winning run with a base hit in the bottom of the ninth as Texas
topped Texas State. Tant Shepherd had three hits and one RBI for
the Longhorns (45-16). Kyle Kubitza homered and drove in three
for the Bobcats (41-23).

Regional
In Chapel Hill, N.C., Chaz Frank went 2 for 5
with three RBI as North Carolina downed James Madison in front
of 2,333 fans at Boshamer Stadium to win the Chapel Hill
Regional. Tommy Coyle and Brian Holberton both had three hits
and two RBI for the Tar Heels (48-14). R.C. Orlan (2-0, 1 IP, 1
H, 1 K) picked up the win in relief for UNC. Johnny Bladel had
two hits and two runs, while Jake Lowery homered and knocked in
two for the Dukes (42-19).
In the first game, Jake Lowery drove in three,
including two with a double in a four-run second, as James
Madison eliminated Maine. Evan Scott (5-3, 7.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3
BB, 4 K) earned the victory for the Dukes. Michael Fransoso had
a double, a triple, one run and one RBI for the Black Bears
(33-24).
Charlottesville Regional

In Charlottesville, Va., Corey Thompson went 3
for 4 with a homer, two runs and two RBI as East Carolina
eliminated St. John’s. Brad Mincey (6-4, 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3
K) earned the win in relief for the Pirates (41-20). Jeremy
Baltz drove in two for the Red Storm (36-22).
Clemson Regional

In Clemson, S.C., Ryan Fuller drove in the
game-winner with a base hit in the bottom of the ninth as
Connecticut nipped Clemson in front of 4,877 fans at Doug
Kingsmore Stadium to force a deciding game on Monday at 7 p.m.
Tim Martin had a two-run single to cap a three-run eighth as the
Huskies (44-18-1) took a 6-4 lead. Spencer Kieboom had a two-run
single in the top of the ninth as the Tigers (43-19) tied it at
6. Doug Elliott homered and drove in three for UConn. Will Lamb
had three hits and a run for Clemson.
In the earlier game, Mike Nemeth went 4 for 5
with two RBI as Connecticut eliminated Coastal Carolina. Brian
Ward (6-1, 8 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) got the win for the
Huskies. Tucker Frawley had two hits for the Chanticleers
(42-20).
College Station Regional

In College Station, Texas, Nick Cunningham
pitched 5.1 scoreless innings in relief as Arizona topped Texas
A&M to force a deciding game on Monday at 6:35 p.m. CT.
Cunningham (1-0) allowed two hits and four walks while striking
out two. Jett Bandy and Bobby Rinard both drove in two for the
Wildcats (39-20). Tyler Naquin went 2 for 3 with three runs for
the Aggies (44-19).
In the Sunday opener, Konner Wade and Bryce
Bandilla combined on the shutout as Arizona sent home Seton
Hall. Wade (3-0, 7 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 K) picked up the win, while
Bandilla allowed one hit in two innings with two walks and one
strikeout. Cole Frenzel drove in three, while Bryce Ortega went
3 for 3 with one run for the Wildcats (38-20). Sean Gusrang had
two hits for the Pirates (34-25).
Columbia Regional
#1 South Carolina 4, #2 Stetson 1 (suspended

In Columbia, S.C., South Carolina led Stetson 4-1
in the top of the fifth when the game was suspended due to
weather. The game will resume on Monday at 1 p.m. with the
if-necessary game still scheduled for 7 p.m.
In the first game, Sean Emory drove in a pair as
Stetson eliminated NC State. Tucker Donahue (3-3, 3.2 IP, 4 H, 1
UE, 3 BB, 3 K) earned the win in relief for the Hatters (43-19).
Brett Williams went 2 for 5 with a homer and three RBI for the
Wolfpack (35-27).
Corvallis Regional

In Corvallis, Ore., Jake Rodriguez went 3 for 3
with one RBI as Oregon State stopped Georgia in front of 3,032
fans at Goss Stadium to capture the Corvallis Regional. The
Beavers (41-17) snapped a 4-4 tie with a run in the top of the
eighth and added an insurance run in the ninth. Brian Stamps (2
for 4) and Parker Berberet (2 for 2, 2 RBI) both homered for OSU.
Adam Duke (1-0, 1.1 IP, 1 BB) earned the win in relief, while
Tony Bryant worked around a hit and a walk in the ninth for his
12th save. Kyle Farmer had two hits and three RBI for the
Bulldogs (33-31).
In the day’s first game, Brandon Stephens had a
run-scoring single in the bottom of the 11th as Georgia
eliminated Creighton. Kyle Farmer (2 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Zach
Cone (1 for 5, 2 RBI) both homered for the Bulldogs (33-31).
Alex Staehely and Jimmy Swift both had two hits and one RBI for
the Bluejays (45-16).
Fort Worth Regional

In Fort Worth, Texas, Mark Guest went the
distance as Oral Roberts defeated Dallas Baptist at Lupton
Stadium to force a deciding game on Monday at 7 p.m. CT. Guest
(2-0) had only thrown 16 innings during the season, but managed
to go nine with five hits, two earned runs, two walks and two
strikeouts. Brandon King (2 for 4, 3 RBI) and Cam Schiller (2
for 4, 2 RBI) both homered for the Golden Eagles (39-21). Kenny
Hatcher had two hits for the Patriots (41-18).
In the earlier contest, Chris Elder belted a
grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to carry
Oral Roberts past TCU in front of 2,878 fans at Lupton Stadium.
Brandon King went 3 for 3 with one run and one RBI for the
Golden Eagles. Jantzen Witte had three hits and one RBI for the
Horned Frogs (43-19).
Fullerton Regional

In Fullerton, Calif., Ben Clowe went 4 for 4 with
two homers and four RBI as Stanford hammered Illinois at Goodwin
Field to win the Fullerton Regional. The Cardinal (35-20) scored
in six different innings, pounding out 20 hits. Austin Wilson (3
for 5, 1 HR) and Lonnie Kauppila (3 for 6) both drove in three
for Stanford. Danny Sandbrink (4-1, 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K)
picked up the victory. Pete Cappetta had two hits and one run
for the Fighting Illini (30-27).
In the earlier contest, Pete Cappetta went 3 for
4 with one run and one RBI to lead Illinois past Cal State
Fullerton. The Illini scored two in the seventh to tie the game
at 4 and took the lead with three in the eighth. Davis
Hendrickson doubled and drove in a pair for Illinois. Chris Pack
(8-1, 2 IP, 2 H, 1 UE, 1 K) got the win in relief. Nick Ramirez
went 3 for 5 with two RBI for the Titans (41-17) and also took
the loss (1-1, 1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 K).
Houston Regional
#3 California 8, #2 Baylor 0

In Houston, Kyle Porter and two relievers
combined on the shutout as California blanked Baylor at Reckling
Park to force a deciding game on Monday at 7 p.m. CT. Porter
(5-0) allowed three hits and two walks in 6.2 innings with nine
strikeouts. Kevin Miller got one strikeout before Justin Jones
gave up one hit over the final two innings with two strikeouts
for his first save. Chad Bunting (3 for 3) had a solo homer in
the sixth before his three-run blast highlighted a seven-run
eighth for the Golden Bears (34-21). Chadd Krist drove in two
for Cal. Jake Miller had two hits for the Bears (31-27).
In the first game, Vince Bruno drove in two as
California eliminated Rice. The Bears tied at 3 with a run in
the seventh and took the lead with three in the eighth. Devon
Rodriguez had two hits and one run for Cal. Matt Flemer (3-2,
1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K) earned the win in relief. Michael
Ratterree went 2 for 5 with one run for the Owls (42-21).
Los Angeles Regional

In Los Angeles, Ronnie Shaeffer had a RBI single
to cap a two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth as UC Irvine
edged UCLA in front of 1,461 spectators at Jackie Robinson
Stadium. The Bruins (35-24) scored single runs in the first,
fourth and fifth before the Anteaters (42-16) pulled to within
one in the bottom of the fifth. Shaeffer had two hits and drove
in two, while Jordan Leyland went 2 for 4 with one RBI for UCI.
Jeff Gelalich homered and knocked in a pair for UCLA.
In the first game, Adam Plutko allowed one hit in
7.2 scoreless innings as UCLA eliminated San Francisco at Jackie
Robinson Stadium. Plutko (7-4) walked two and struck out six.
Dean Espy went 2 for 5 with one run and one RBI for the Bruins.
Travis Higgs doubled and drove in one for the Dons (32-25).
Nashville Regional

In Nashville, Tenn., Taylor Hill struck out a
career-high 13 as Vanderbilt bounded Belmont in front of 3,050
fans at Hawkins Field to capture the Nashville Regional title.
Hill (5-1) allowed five hits and one run in eight innings with
one walk. Jason Esposito went 3 for 4 with a homer and two RBI
for the Commodores (50-10). Tim Egerton went deep for the Bruins
(38-26).
In the earlier game, Jared Breen went 1 for 2 and
drove in a pair as Belmont eliminated Troy. Tim Egerton scored
twice for the Bruins. Nate Woods (7-5, 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1
K) got the win for Belmont. Tyler Hannah went 3 for 4 with one
RBI for the Trojans (43-19).
Tallahassee Regional

In Tallahassee, Fla., Florida State led Alabama
8-1 in the top of the sixth when the game was suspended due to
weather. The game will resume on Monday at 12 p.m. Should the
“if necessary” game be required, it would be played 50 minutes
following the conclusion of the suspended contest.
In the Sunday opener, Jared Reaves went 3 for 5
with three runs and three RBI as Alabama eliminated UCF. Taylor
Dugas homered and drove in three for the Crimson Tide (35-27).
Jonathan Smart (5-3, 8 IP, 11 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 K) picked up the
win. D.J. Hicks went deep and knocked in two for the Knights
(39-23).

In Tempe, Ariz., Joey DeMichele homered and drove
in four as Arizona State overwhelmed Arkansas in front of 2,379
fans at Packard Stadium to take the Tempe Regional title. The
Sun Devils (42-16) led 3-0 after five before putting the game
away with seven in the sixth. Johnny Ruettiger went 2 for 5 with
three runs and two RBI, while Andrew Aplin had two hits, two
runs and two RBI for ASU. Mitchell Lambson (7-3, 6.1 IP, 7 H, 4
R, 3 BB, 9 K) earned the victory for the Sun Devils. James
McCann had two hits and knocked in a pair for the Razorbacks
(40-22).
In the first game, Ryne Stanek pitched a complete
game as Arkansas eliminated Charlotte. Stanek (4-2) allowed six
hits and two earned runs with one walk and six strikeouts. James
McCann (1 for 2) and Kyle Robinson (2 for 3, 2 R) both drove in
three for the Razorbacks. Justin Seager homered and knocked in
two for the 49ers (43-16).
