They lead the country in runs and are second in homers per game, with 1.37 homers a game. David Herbek was a career .331 hitter before batting .374 this year and slugging .701. The CAA Player of the Year has racked up a whopping 187 total bases and a .796 slugging percentage. As a team, JMU hits up and down the lineup and mixes in plenty of speed (seven players have more than 10 stolen bases, led by Johnny Bladel's 24). Pitching isn't JMU's strong suit, but the Dukes have a 3.22 ERA over their past 15 games. Lefty Sean Tierney is the ace, limiting opponents to a .232 average - he's 10-1 after having an 11.53 ERA last year and missing the year before after injuring his arm in his first appearance of the year vs. UC Irvine.
