No Dome Sweet Home
Minnesota
has had to juggle its schedule after learning that its home
field, the Metrodome, will not be available in February and
March due to ongoing roof repairs.
The 28th annual Dairy Queen Classic has been
moved to Tucson, Ariz. The six games will be played at the Kino
Sports Complex, the former Spring Training home of the Arizona
Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox. The revised schedule is:
Friday, March 4 Minnesota vs. South Alabama, 1
p.m. MT; Oklahoma State vs. Washington State, 4 p.m. MT
Saturday, March 5 Minnesota vs. Washington State,
1 p.m. MT; Oklahoma State vs. South Alabama, 4 p.m. MT
Sunday, March 6 South Alabama vs. Washington
State, 10 a.m. MT; Minnesota vs. Oklahoma State, 1 p.m. MT
Minnesota cancelled its Metrodome Tournament,
which was scheduled for March 11-13. The Gophers planned to host
Butler, Gonzaga and Illinois. Minnesota will now play a
three-game series against Gonzaga in Sacramento, Calif.
The Gophers have moved their three-game series
with Cal Poly to San Luis Obispo on March 25-27. The Mustangs
will travel to Minnesota in 2012.
The Gophers were forced to cancel two-game series
with North Dakota and Cal State Bakersfield.
No decision has yet been made for the
availability of the Metrodome in April and May. Minnesota has 16
home games schedules, including Big Ten series with Purdue,
Northwestern, Iowa and Ohio State.
