Four receive top preseason honors in OVC

 

Senior shortstop Drew Lee (left) of Morehead State and junior third baseman Jayson Langfels of Eastern Kentucky were named Preseason Co-Players of the Year in the Ohio Valley Conference in voting by the league’s head coaches and released by the conference office.

 

Senior Chris Craycraft of Murray State and junior Josh Mueller of Eastern Illinois were selected Preseason Co-Pitchers of the Year.

 

Lee batted .413 a season ago with 18 doubles, 17 home runs and 67 RBI. Langfels hit .441 with 13 doubles, 12 homers, 72 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

 

Craycraft was 10-3 in 2009 with a 4.05 ERA. He tossed three complete games and fanned 80 in 100 innings.

 

Mueller was 8-1 a season ago with a 4.85 ERA. He recorded 64 strikeouts in 78 innings.

 

The 62nd season of OVC baseball begins on Friday, Feb. 19. The first weekend of league is March 27-28. The 2010 OVC Tournament will be May 26-30 at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn.
