Last NCAA appearance:
2009 (1-2 in Baton Rouge Regional)
Notes: Baylor is back
in the field for the 11th time in Steve Smith's 16 years. The
Bears solidified their case with a run to the championship game
of the Big 12 title. Since 1997, Baylor has won more Big 12
games (214) than anyone but Texas (247). Brooks Pinckard was
named all- Big 12 at the utility position, and Logan Vick and
Logan Verrett were second-teamers. Opponents hit. 200 off
Pinckard, the Bears' closer, and he stole 18 of 20 bases on the

with a 3.09 ERA. Raynor Campbell has been a fixture in the
Bears' offense since landing as a Freshman All-American
(Louisville Slugger) and has capped it by leading the team in
hitting - he was CollegeBaseballInsider.com's player of the week

freshmen or sophomores, with Campbell the only senior. Joey

season. Baylor's bullpen entered the Big 12 tourney 19-5 with 16
saves and a 3.06 ERA.

74.2 IP, 84 H, 33 BB, 67 K), Nick Cunningham (3-2, 3 SV, 4.35,
39.1 IP, 39 H, 15 BB, 38 K)
Last NCAA appearance:
2008 (3-0 in the Ann Arbor Regional, 1-2 in the
Coral Gables Super Regional)
Notes: The Wildcats
struggled against their Pac-10 competition, but still managed to
post a respectable 32-22 record. Skipper Andy Lopez wraps up his
ninth season as head coach; he managed his young club to its
second postseason in the past five years. Arizona last made a
trip to Omaha in 2004. This year’s roster features two-dozen new
faces and a handful of returners. The pitching staff feature two
strong starters in Heyer and Simon, but the back end of the
rotation has struggled at times. Unlike the Sun Devils, Arizona
will have the ability to compete as an under-the-radar team.
