OMAHA, Neb. – Arizona State is the favorite to take home the college baseball national title according to a CollegeBaseballInsider.com survey of head coaches around the country.

The Sun Devils, the No. 1 national seed and owner of a 52-8 record, earned 36 percent of the vote from 75 head coaches who participate in the survey. Florida and TCU, who are in the opposite side of the College World Series bracket from ASU, each received 12 votes, or 16 percent.

UCLA tallied nine votes (12 percent), followed by South Carolina (8 percent), Florida State (5 percent), Oklahoma (4 percent) and Clemson (3 percent). The Tigers are the Sun Devils’ first-round opponent.

“Arizona State is clearly the favorite, but what’s interesting is how split the votes are among Florida, TCU and UCLA,” said Sean Ryan, co-founder of CollegeBaseballInsider.com. “Not only is that side of the bracket wide open, but college coaches around the country also think the winner of that side has a great shot of winning the whole thing.”

CollegeBaseballInsider.com, which has been covering Division I college baseball since 2002, asked head coaches to choose one winner from the eight teams in Omaha vying for the College World Series title. The sample of 75 coaches represents about 25 percent of Division I head coaches.
