We are down to the final four at the 2010 College World Series and we will have a first-time winner from among Clemson, South Carolina, TCU and UCLA. This is the first trip to Omaha for TCU, third for UCLA, ninth for South Carolina and 13th for Clemson.

South Carolina advances to face Clemson, which took two of three from the Gamecocks this season. In the 2002 College World Series, the Tigers were in the driver's seat before South Carolina rallied from the losers' bracket to beat them two straight days to reach the CWS title game. The Gamecocks lost to Texas in the final.

When Clemson faces South Carolina, it will be the second meeting of teams from the same state in the 2010 CWS. Florida State beat Florida 8-5 on Monday in an elimination game.

Clemson and South Carolina are the first teams from the same state to meet in the CWS bracket finals since 2005, when Texas defeated Baylor to reach the championship series.

Oklahoma starting pitcher Zach Neal was born in Columbia, S.C., home of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Oklahoma had been tough in one-run games all year, going 14-6 overall and 4-1 in the postseason entering the game against the Gamecocks.

The crowd of 24,180 was the largest of the 2010 CWS.

This was the 83rd extra-inning game in CWS history and the 29th to go at least 12 innings. South Carolina is 2-2 all-time in extra-inning contests in Omaha and Oklahoma is 3-2 in extra-inning games in the CWS.

The Gamecocks reached 50 wins for the fourth time. South Carolina won 57 in 2002, 56 in 2000 and 53 in 2004.

Prior to Christian Walker’s RBI single in the eighth, South Carolina was 0 for 14 with runners in scoring position in two College World Series games against Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is now 3-2 in extra-innings games this season and 18-4-1 under head coach Sunny Golloway.
