OMAHA, Neb. – Clemson leads Oklahoma 6-1
after five innings in Game 8 of the 2010 College World Series at
Rosenblatt Stadium.
The game was suspended at 10:08 p.m. CT due to
lightning and rain in the area. The decision was made at 10:40
p.m. to suspend the contest and resume on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
OU snapped a scoreless tie
in the top of the fourth as Cody Reine had a one-out bunt
single, stole second and scored on a base hit by Caleb Bushyhead.
The Tigers plated four in the bottom of the
frame. Sooner starter Bobby Shore walked the bases loaded before
allowing a run-scoring single by John Hinson. Jack Mayfield
relieved Shore and gave up a sacrifice fly to Richie Shaffer and
a two-run single to Spencer Kieboom to make it 4-1.
Clemson added a pair of unearned runs in the
fifth. Kyle Parker crushed a ball off the top of the fence in
center for a two-out triple. Brad Miller lofted a fly ball that
was missed by left-fielder Max White. Parker scored and Miller
ended up at second. Hinson followed with a base hit that brought
in Miller to make it 6-1.
Scott Weismann pitched five innings for the
Tigers, allowing three hits and one run with two walks and four
strikeouts.
The Florida State-TCU game will start 50 minutes
after the conclusion of the suspended game, but not earlier than
6 p.m.
