McGurk killed in auto accident

Thomas McGurk, a freshman pitcher at Murray State, was killed in an automobile accident Saturday evening in Murray.

According to Kentucky State Police reports, McGurk was driving a Dodge Neon that was involved in a head-on collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The left-hander from Medina, Ohio, had 30 strikeouts in 32 innings with a 3.20 ERA in 2010 as a senior at Medina High School.

In June 2008, McGurk helped pull three children out of a window of a burning home in Medina.
