Favre to return if Southern Miss makes CWS

Former Southern Miss football standout Brett Favre made a deal with the Golden Eagle baseball team: you return to Omaha, I return to Minnesota.

The NFL quarterback met with head coach Scott Berry and the team on the morning of May 20, prior to the team’s final regular-season Conference USA series with Memphis at Pete Taylor Park. Favre told the team that if it made it to the College World Series for a second straight season, he would return to the Minnesota Vikings.

Favre told the team that he followed the Golden Eagles through their run to Omaha.

Second-place Southern Miss started its run later that night with a 9-3 victory over Memphis. The Conference USA Tournament will be held next week in Houston.
