One Week Added to Playing Schedule

According to the American Baseball Coaches Association, the NCAA Division I Board of Directors voted to maintain 56 games and added a week to the playing schedule.

The week will be added to the beginning of the season. The 2010 College World Series is scheduled for June 19-30. This is one week later than 2009 due to the calendar change, not this legislation. The regular season of 14 weeks will start on Feb. 19. Conference play must end by May 30 and regionals will start on June 3.

Regular-season practice can start no sooner than three weeks prior to the start of the season. For 2010, that date is Friday, Jan. 29.

The uniform start date has been in effect for the past two seasons.
