2009 ACC Championship to be
Held in Durham
Fenway Park to host 2010
event
The
2009 ACC Championship will be held at Durham Bulls Athletic Park
(DBAP) in Durham, N.C., from May 20-24.
The event was originally scheduled to be played
in Boston’s Fenway Park, but the Fenway Sports Group was forced
to defer until 2010 after discovering an in-house scheduling
error.
DBAP is a 10,000-seat
downtown stadium and is home to the Triple-A affiliate of the
Tampa Bay Rays. This will be the sixth time the ACC Baseball
Championship has been held in Durham and the fourth at DBAP
(1996, 1998 and 1999).
Following regular-season play, the top eight
teams will advance to the championship, which will be a
round-robin format for the third consecutive year.
Three games will be played each of the first four
days at 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The title contest is
scheduled for Sunday, May 24, at 1 p.m. Each game will be
televised by the ACC’s Regional Sports Network (FSN South,
SportsSouth, FSN Florida, Sun Sports, Comcast Sports
Mid-Atlantic and NESN).
