Notes: UNCW has
posted five 40-win seasons in the past six campaigns. The
Seahawks had a 21-game win streak from Feb. 29 through April 1,
a school and conference record. The Seahawks set single-season
records with 91 home runs, 77 hit batsmen, .525 slugging
percentage and .418 on-base percentage. This is UNCW’s fourth
NCAA appearance, and the past three have been in the state of
North Carolina (2004 in Kinston, 2006 in Chapel Hill, 2008 in
Cary). In its last NCAA appearance, UNCW defeated Maine 21-19 in
the second round, the second-highest scoring game in NCAA
Tournament history. Mark Scalf was an assistant coach for USA
Baseball in 2003 and in 2007. Cleveland Indians pitching coach
Carl Willis is a former Seahawk.
