Notes: Southern Miss advances to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and the eighth time in school history. James and Michael Ewing are twin brothers. Of the 33 players on the Southern Miss roster, 24 are from the state of Mississippi and nine are from the Hattiesburg area. First baseman Trey Sutton was named First Team All-C-USA. Pitchers Ryan Belanger and Patrick Ezell were second-team selections.

Notes: Mark Johnson, who won 876 games as head coach of Texas A&M, has led the Bearkats to their first NCAA appearance since 1996 in his first season back in the dugout. The last time Sam Houston State was in the tourney, it upset second-ranked Miami in Austin. This season marked the Bearkats’ first winning season since 1998. Luke Prihoda, the conference pitcher of the year, leads the nation in saves. Bobby Verbick, who has 13 of the team’s 29 homers, and Karl Krailo also were named all-conference. Leading hitter Keith Stein and fourth-leading hitter Todd Sebek are transfers from Texas A&M, as is Austin Boggs, who has driven in 34.
