The Aggies have won 19 more games this season than last season and won the Big
12 tourney title in Rob Childress’ second season in College Station. A&M will
serve as a Regional Host after winning its tournament title. Blake Stouffer does
a little of everything for the Aggies, slugging .625 and stealing 20 bases in
addition to his 75 RBI. Catcher Craig Stinson has returned from nagging injuries
the past two seasons to post a big year. Before this year, ace Kyle Nicholson
was 10-6, primarily out of relief and had 95 strikeouts - he has 93 Ks this
season. He ranks in the top 20 in the country in ERA. David Newmann won 10 games
after missing 2006 due to Tommy John surgery.

Last NCAA appearance:
2005 (1-2 at New Orleans Regional)
Notes:
Louisiana-Lafayette is back in the NCAA tournament and almost had a chance to
stay at home as a host. An unexpected loss in the final of the Sun Belt tourney
is about the only thing bad that happened to this dangerous Ragin’ Cajuns
edition. Tony Robichaux, the Sun Belt coach of the year, is a proven winner and
took his Cajuns to the College World Series in 2000. Buddy Glass, Jonathan
Lucroy and Scott Hawkins were named first-team all-conference - it’s the second
time for Glass, who has won 15 games the past two years. Hawkins, a catcher, is
batting 100 points higher this season than last. Danny Farquhar has 12 wins in
his first two years, and ERAs of 2.88 this year and 2.17 last.

Notes – The Dolphins are in the tourney for the third time in the past
five years. Coach Steve Owens spent eight years at Courtland State prior to
arriving at Le Moyne and owns a winning percentage of .690. He earned his 500th
win in the first round of the MAAC tourney against Canisius. Andy Parrino was
named the MAAC player of the year, while Bobby Blevins was the co-pitcher of the
year. Blevins, a senior, is one of the best - if not the best - pitcher in
school history, topping the career charts with 32 wins and 284 strikeouts.
Closer Ryan Woods was named the MAAC reliever of the year and has been lights
out, holding hitters to a .178 average. Le Moyne's staff allows only 4.5 runs a
game.
