Lissman, Wong carry
Beavers past Sun Devils
OSU remains undefeated; ASU meets
UCI on Tuesday
Mike Lissman and
Joey Wong combined for six hits and seven RBI as Oregon State scored in each of
the first six innings, building a 12-1 lead on its way to a 12-6 victory over
Arizona State Monday evening at the College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The Sun Devils
(49-14) will face UC Irvine in an elimination game Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
EDT. The winner meets the Beavers (46-18) on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. EDT.
Lissman had three
hits, including a three-run homer in the second, and drove in four. Wong had
three hits, three RBI and a run. Wong contributed an RBI double in the second
and run-scoring singles in the fifth and sixth innings.
OSU scored a pair
in the first, four in the second, single runs in the third, fourth and fifth,
and three in the sixth. ASU had one run in the second, four in the seventh and
one in the ninth.
Mike Stutes (11-4)
was the starter and winner for the Beavers, going six innings with three hits,
four runs, five walks and four strikeouts.
Eric Sogard had two
hits and two RBI for the Sun Devils.
