After 25 years of hosting the Wally Pontiff, Jr. Classic, the New Orleans Baby Cakes will retire Pontiff’s No. 31 on Friday, July 27.

Scott Foxhall has been hired as pitching coach at Mississippi State. Foxhall was previously an assistant at NC State.
Julius McDougal was promoted to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Eastern Kentucky. He was a volunteer assistant with the Colonels this past season.
Missouri State will host a Reunion and Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Hammons Field. The game, which will be played at noon, will be free and open to the public.
Ty McDevitt has been promoted to assistant coach at Minnesota by head coach John Anderson to fill the spot of retired Rob Fornasiere. McDevitt was a volunteer coach for the past two seasons at his alma mater following a four-year pitching career for the Gophers.
Greg Bordes was named Director of Baseball Operations at Arizona. He worked for the past two seasons at Grand Canyon University.
Taylor Sandefur returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach at Western Carolina. He was an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Erskine College.
The Big South Conference will hold its baseball championship at the new Fayetteville (N.C.) Ballpark from 2019-21.
Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) has named Ryder Haulk, the assistant Sports Field Manager at Purdue, the winner of the annual “Stars and Stripes” field art contest. Haulk’s “Red, White and Purdue” design at Bittinger Stadium pulled in a record 2,019 online likes.
Pepperdine hired Danny Worth as an assistant coach. He was a volunteer assistant at his alma mater last fall before he left to train for professional baseball.
Washington has hired Ronnie Prettyman as an assistant coach. He previously worked at Loyola Marymount, where he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the past three years.
Ryan Connolly was named director of baseball operations at Kansas State. The Wildcats kept Shane Conlon as volunteer assistant coach and Colin Greaser as director of player and program development.
Kyle Winkler has returned to TCU as a student assistant coach. He will work on his degree after seven years in professional baseball.
Matt Angel was hired as an assistant coach at Matt Angle. The former Buckeye was a volunteer video coordinator at OSU over the past four seasons.
