Texas A&M recently completed its 11th annual Paint-A-Thon at the home of Ms. Ocie Walker in College Station. A crew of 50 painted the exterior of the house as well as handled outdoor maintenance and landscape in the yard.
Texas A&M has reached a contract extension with head coach Rob Childress, adding two years to the existing contract to run through the 2021 season. Childress had led the program for 11 seasons. The Aggies have had 10 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, five Regional titles and a College World Series trip in 2011.
Andrew Amaro has been added to the staff at Delaware as a volunteer assistant coach. Amaro graduated from the University of Tampa and was an assistant there this past year. He started his collegiate career at Maryland (2011-14). Amaro is the nephew of former Philadelphia Phillies general manager and current Boston Red Sox coach Ruben Amaro, Jr.
Florida Atlantic promoted Jason Jackson to associate head coach. He has assisted head coach John McCormack for the past eight seasons, serving as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. The Owls have posted a record of 282-182 and have twice more than 40 games in a season.
Drew Roberts has been named Director of Baseball Operations at UCF. He was head coach at St. Andrews for the past four seasons.
Western Carolina elevated Brock Doud from a volunteer assistant to full-time assistant coach. Kyle Dean was added as a volunteer assistant.
Houston will play the USA Baseball 18U National Team in a fall exhibition game on Monday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas. All tickets are general admission, $15 for adults and $8 for children.
Furman will hold its alumni game on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at Latham Stadium as part of Homecoming Weekend.
