Baseball was one of seven sports to be eliminated at La Salle.
The Explorers reduced their number of varsity sports from 25 to 18 by eliminating baseball, men’s swimming and diving, men’s tennis, men’s water polo, softball, volleyball and women’s tennis. The teams will be allowed to compete in this academic year.
La Salle, a member of the Atlantic 10 conference, stated it would honor all athletic scholarships to affected student-athletes through graduation. Approximately 130 student-athletes are on these seven sports that are being dropped.
